Under PM Surya Ghar the central government pays ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and ₹18,000 for the third kW, so up to ₹78,000 for 3 kW or more. Hill states, the North East and island areas get more, up to ₹85,800. Some states add their own subsidy on top: Uttar Pradesh adds up to ₹30,000, so a 3 kW home in UP can get ₹1,08,000.
For ordinary homes: Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal. Only for some families (by income, caste category or an existing state scheme): Haryana, Maharashtra, Rajasthan. Pick your state in the calculator to see the amount that applies to you.
Often, yes. Public sector banks give collateral-free PM Surya Ghar loans at the repo rate plus 0.5%, about 6% a year in October 2026, for systems up to 3 kW and up to 10 years. When the subsidy reaches your bank account and you pay it into the loan, the EMI drops. Tick "I want a solar loan" in the calculator to compare your EMI with your bill saving.
It is a planning estimate. In Uttar Pradesh it works back from your bill using the official home tariff slabs; in other states it uses the cost per unit you enter and approximate state sunshine. Prices are market ranges for subsidy-eligible equipment. Your final size, price and subsidy are confirmed after a roof survey and approval on the national portal.
PM Surya Ghar is sanctioned until March 2027. State subsidies have their own budgets and can close earlier, so apply soon if you plan to install.
