A typical home needs a 3 kW system: ₹1,75,000–₹2,15,000 before subsidy. In Uttar Pradesh the subsidy on it is ₹1,08,000 (₹78,000 central plus ₹30,000 from the state), so you pay ₹67,000–₹1,07,000. Prices below are market ranges for quality, subsidy-eligible equipment, installation included.

*Subsidy applies to residential homes only. Commercial and industrial systems are quoted without subsidy. And often still pay back faster, because business electricity rates are higher.
Important: The prices, subsidy and savings shown here are illustrations only, to help you plan. Your final system size, payable amount, subsidy eligibility and net-metering approval are confirmed after a roof survey and DISCOM or PM Surya Ghar portal approval.
Outside Uttar Pradesh? Subtract only the central subsidy; your state may add its own. See the UP guide or your district page for local savings and payback.
A quick rule: monthly bill under ₹1,000 → 1 kW. Between ₹1,000–2,500 → 2 kW. Above ₹2,500 → 3 kW or more. In Uttar Pradesh the subsidy grows only up to 3 kW: the central subsidy stops at ₹78,000 and the state subsidy at ₹30,000, so a 3 kW home gets the full ₹1,08,000. That makes 3 kW the sweet spot for most families; anything bigger is paid for at full price.
Panel brand and type (DCR panels cost more but are needed for subsidy), inverter brand, mounting structure height, wiring distance, and your city all move the price. That is why comparing 2–3 quotes matters.
Be careful. Very cheap quotes often mean non-ALMM panels (your subsidy gets rejected), thin structures, or no after-service. Check what exactly is included before comparing prices.
Most big banks give collateral-free solar loans linked to PM Surya Ghar. Many families pay the loan down with the subsidy money when it arrives.
A proper quote should include panels, inverter, structure, wiring, installation, net-metering support and portal paperwork. Ask the installer to confirm each item in writing.
